Main Street Social was built from a simple idea: Grain Valley needed a place that felt like ours.

We’re Alexander Franklin and tANNER Mckenzie, two Grain Valley alumni who grew up here, went through school here, and never stopped believing in what this town could be. Eventually, we realized the missing piece was something we could build together.

One of us is the dreamer. One of us is the executioner. He lines it up, I knock it down.

But Main Street Social isn’t just about us.

This building has been part of Grain Valley for well over a century. While we are still working to piece together its full history, we know it has served this community in more ways than one. Over the years, these walls have seen gatherings, entertainment, hard work, local business, and plenty of stories that deserve to be remembered.

From its earlier days as a place for community use, to its time as a tap house, and now its next chapter as Main Street Social, this building has always had a way of bringing people together. Before Main Street Social, the building was brought back to life by Iron Kettle Brewing. After sitting vacant, Jason and Brian Fenstermaker, Ben Call, and James Nelson rehabbed the building and opened Iron Kettle Brewing on March 17, 2021. Their goal was to create a Scottish pub feel in honor of their mom, and in doing so, they gave Grain Valley a place to gather, connect, and enjoy something local.

Iron Kettle Brewing later became Iron Kettle Tap House, continuing that chapter till May 1, 2026. During its run, Iron Kettle brewing created more than 30 unique drinks, including local favorites like Peasant Wheat, Irish Red, Amber Ale, and the well-known Blood Dragon blood orange seltzer.

When asked what they missed most, the answer was simple: the people.

That says a lot about this building and the community that supported it.  

That is what we want to continue.

Our goal is not to erase what came before us. It is to honor it, clean it up, bring it back to life, and give Grain Valley a place to eat, drink, celebrate, watch the game, host events, and make new memories.

Main Street Social is built on local history, familiar faces, and the belief that a small town still deserves a damn good place to gather.
